Investor Panel

The panel of investors will include James Horler and Christopher Johnston, two exceptionally successful businessmen, who regularly invest in early-stage startups.

James Horler is one of the most powerful people in the UK hospitality sector:

  • Pioneered the Frankie & Benny's restaurant chain, growing it to 65 restaurants and serving millions of families throughout the UK.
  • Grew the La Tasca restaurant chain from 16 to 74 restaurants and floated the business on the AIM market for £54million.
  • CEO of 3Sixty Restaurants which has 36 'Ego' sites
  • Non-Executive Chairman at Ping Pong Restaurants and Notes Coffee
  • Early investor in Leon Restaurants

Christopher Johnston founded the AIM-listed company Personal Group and graced the Times Rich List.

  • Co-founded Personal Group in 1980, with £100,000 personal funds and £900,000 investment. No further investment was ever sought.
  • Listed on AIM in 2000, and generating revenues of £98million in 2023
  • Retired in 2009 whilst maintaining a large shareholding of the company.
  • He has invested in eleven startups, four of which became total losses. Five are ongoing, including an artisan bakery in Stony Stratford.
  • Christopher is a keen supporter of ambitious founders.
