Green Roof Hackathon

Theme: Sustainability

A Protospace Event

Location: Saxon Court, Milton Keynes
Format: Hackathon

The Atrium at Saxon Court by Richard Wiggins

The next Protospace Hackathon will commence on Saturday 18th through to Sunday 19th September in collaboration with MK Hackathon and the South Central Institute of Technology.

Over the course of the weekend, attendees will collaborate in the design and development of a project which aims to support the wider Milton Keynes community.

This will be the first of our in-person events taking place at Saxon Court (///blemishes.honey.crossings). We'll be working with limited numbers in a large well ventilated space and ensuring all measures are taken to accommodate attendees in a safe and comfortable environment. Everyone attending the event will be encouraged to take a COVID-19 lateral flow test on each day.

Whatever your skillset or ability, this is a great opportunity to contribute to the development of a local resource and experience working as a team on a fast paced and collaborate project, from concept to completion.

Register your interest today to receive further information and invitation to join us. Spaces are limited so register now to avoid missing out.

All participants will be able choose from a selection sustainable swag to take home too!

What will we be building?

The brief: Measure, compare and present the effectiveness of Green Roof’s in supporting the environment and make this data publicly available.

Supporting Bridgman & Bridgman's latest Green Roof Project in Milton Keynes at Saxon Court, we want you to help us show the community how great Green Roofs can be.

Using sensors to measure carbon capture, rainfall retention, biodiversity, and other environmentally beneficial attributes, the data collected will be shared to the public via a website of beautiful graphs/visualisations.

As with all our hackathons, this project will be open-source and available for use by other Green Roof projects.

  • A hackathon is an event where people come together to solve problems, most commonly resulting in the design and/or development of a software or technologically driven solution. Our aim is to create lasting value and bring a range of people and skillsets together to leverage synergies between the diverse communities in Milton Keynes.

  • Whatever your skillset or level there will be a place for you on the team! We need project managers, designers, developers, copywriters, artists, creative minds, PR and team players.

We’re looking for both coaches to help run the day, and people to help build the project itself - you could even do a bit of both!

  • You don't need to attend all day, everyday but upon registration we'll ask when you would like to attend, broken in to AM and PM slots for each day. This helps us plan around the skillsets and teams available during the hackathon.
